Lola Olimova talked about the peculiarities of selecting topics for international media, the subtleties of working with analysis in journalistic materials, with statistical data, the search for experts and heroes, and how to manage the collected material.

“You must remember that you are writing about your country for a foreign reader who does not know the details that you know. Your readers may not understand you if you don’t make the details clear to them. Most importantly, constantly ask yourself the question, if I were the reader, would I understand if I read such a text? Remember the numbers, the context and the background and make it clear,” she said.

Tatyana Trubacheva, editor of CABAR.asia in Kazakhstan, talked about the types of sources and how to work with them. She advised journalists to focus on the target audience of their media, constantly read the news feeds of different media and always be in touch with the editor. She named the main mistakes made by journalists writing for the international media.

The trainers showed and told about the structure and content of an analytical article, stressed the importance of the ability to think critically and pull out information from documents, legislative acts and shared other secrets of the profession.

With the help of mentors, participants in the training developed topics of interest to international readers, compiled headlines, and wrote leads and plans for their future articles.

At the end of the training, all participants were awarded with certificates.
