Research shows that social isolation, loss of predictable routine and uncertainty about the future brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic negatively affects mental health of youth, especially children and adolescents. Even before the pandemic, compared to other developing and developed nations, Kazakhstan has had a higher suicide rate among children aged 5-14 and young people aged 15-24.
