Director of the Uzbek Center for Research Initiatives “Ma’no” Bakhtiyor Ergashev, in an interview for CABAR.asia, spoke about the specifics of the public administration system in Uzbekistan, in particular about the administrative reform and why the principle of appointing khokims is preserved.
The article examines the consequences of the decision made by the government of Uzbekistan in 1993 to transform the Uzbek language into Latin script, and also analyzes the recent decisions on the accelerated completion of this process.

The residents of the Uzbek capital want to have green parks with playgrounds in their city, but the authorities see these places only as the source of income.
With new mayor Dzhakhangir Artykkhodzhaev, who was appointed in December 2018, the capital of Uzbekistan did not become more comfortable for people with reduced mobility: ramps are not available everywhere, and those that are available are just for the sake of appearance.

Recently, India’s presence in Central Asia has become more active. The head of the department of the Center for Contemporary History of Uzbekistan under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, professor, doctor of historical sciences Mirzokhid Rakhimov, spoke about how India is building relations with the countries of the region, in an interview for CABAR.asia.
In 9 months of 2020, the joint external debt of Uzbekistan exceeded 29 billion dollars, according to the Central Bank review. According to the agency, the volume of debts increased by 19.7 per cent or 4.8 billion dollars from early 2020.
On January 16, the legislative amendments to the Tax Code were adopted in Tajikistan, according to which all digital services in the country are now subject to Value Added Tax (VAT) at the rate of 18%.
