The publication notes that surveys of rural women in the Kyzylorda region revealed extremely low public awareness of their healthcare rights. The following problems also exist: long waiting lists for various forms of routine medical care (outpatient appointments, laboratory tests, hospitalization); low awareness of complaint mechanisms regarding the quality of medical care; ineffective free outpatient medication provision; shortages, negligence, and inadequate qualifications of healthcare workers; and widespread corruption. The authors offer specific recommendations for central and local government agencies.
