In Kazakhstan, during the lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic specialists noted the outbreak of domestic abuse. On April 28, 37 year-old Nadezhda Belous was killed by her husband at Nur-Sultan. One day before her death, she filed a complaint against her husband; however, he was released with a protection order.

According to the UN Women, 400 women die from domestic abuse in Kazakhstan every year.
