Criminal cases decried as attempts to intimidate and impose censorship.
Prosecutor’s office of Bishkek has filed a suit for liquidation of public foundation “Kloop Media”, which includes the online media outlet Kloop.kg. According to experts, this is an alert for everyone warning that actions and policies of authorities may not be criticised.
“In short term, artificial intelligence will not be able to completely replace editors and journalists,” said new media specialist Rustam Gulov. “However, neural networks can already become an effective assistant for content creators.”
The new, revised law “On the media” made it clear that the fight for freedom of speech is just about to begin in the country.
Women are underrepresented in the media space of Kyrgyzstan, mentioned less often, interviewed less often, and their marital status and age are mentioned more often.
The authorities of Kyrgyzstan once again attempt to get the country’s media sector under tight control by amending the law “On mass media”, while journalists are openly threatened with no reaction from the law enforcement bodies.
The Central Asian countries have never ranked high in global rankings of press freedom index. The authorities of the regional states try to toughen control over media and introduce new instruments to tighten the screws.
