Disputes about whether Tengrism is a religion, cult, ancient belief, shamanism or just a philosophy and mind-set have been on-going for 6 years.  Its active followers believe this is a religion, whose holy book is the Manas epic. Others think it is a philosophy. According to experts, this is both a cult and an ancient belief. However, no organisation of Tengrists has been registered as a religious one so far.

More than a year has passed after the loosening of control at the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border. During this period, over two million people have crossed Dostuk checkpoint, which is seven times more compared to the similar period before the thaw in relations between the states. This has also affected the strengthening of kinship relationships, queues at the border and the growth of commodity turnover.

On October 16 this year, three drunk young men broke into the house and attacked a 25-year-old young man in Tamchy village of Issyk Kul oblast, Kyrgyzstan. This is a version suggested by the family of the man who was beaten. He was a Kyrgyz proselyte and practised Christianity. He has severe brain concussion, one eye injury, a broken jaw, knocked out teeth, and multiple injuries. The young man is still in the territorial hospital.
