IWPR Central Asia is looking for an expert to develop online course

The Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) Central Asia office announces a competition for the creation of an educational video course dedicated to reporting on children’s rights as part of the project “Reporting on Children: Building Capacity and Raising Awareness” among specialists in child rights and with experience in journalism working in Central Asia.


Objective: To develop a course on covering children’s rights for journalists that includes three modules on the topics:

  • Fundamentals of Children’s Rights for Journalists
  • Ethical aspects of reporting on children’s rights issues
  • Use of sensitive language

Key duties:

  1. Develop a course concept (short abstract, expected effect/outcomes of the course, brief description of each module);  
  2. Develop course content (text, with accompanying screenshots and/or any other additional visual materials);
  3. To develop verification tests and practical assignments for independent performance;

Deliverables:

  • Concept (description and structure) and course text (including the module texts themselves, quizzes, and practice assignments);
  • Video recordings of the lessons;

Course language: Russian

Technical parameters of the course: 

  • The target audience of the course: beginners and practicing journalists, students and teachers of journalism departments of Central Asian universities.
  • Total duration of the video is more than 10 minutes (3-4 pages of text).

    All modules will be translated into four local (local) languages of Central Asian countries (Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, and Uzbek).
  • Course materials will only be posted on the media school platform and will only be available to participants who have registered for the course.
  • All courses created as part of the project are the property of IWPR and may be used for other projects, at IWPR’s discretion.

Timeline:

Development and proposal of course concept and structure – 3-4 days,

Writing texts – 14-20 days

Requirements for candidates:

  • Working knowledge of Russian language
  • Experience in projects in the field of children’s rights
  • Understanding and knowledge of the region (or willingness to learn it)
  • Experience in coaching
  • Experience in creating video lessons or other educational videos is welcome
