Decolonisation of Central Asia: Policy Notes for Civil Society, Governments, Media and International Organisations

Decolonisation of Central Asia: Policy Notes were developed based on the discussions during the regional conference Decolonisation of Central Asia: reshaping narratives, held in Almaty on March 15-17, 2023. Each document is addressed to a specific sector and includes civil society, government, media and international organisations.

The regional conference, organised by IWPR, brought together representatives of the public sector, civil society organisations, journalists, activists, artists, as well as academics and researchers for an open discussion on the topic of decolonisation in Central Asia. Over the course of three days, participants shared their thoughts on various aspects of decolonisation, including language and identity, knowledge production, outreach, history, gender, urban and other issues. As a result of these discussions, practical recommendations were developed for different sectors of the countries of the region.

The publication is intended for young experts and consultants, researchers, decision makers, as well as a wide range of readers interested in politics and international relations in the Central Asian region.
