The reform of the law enforcement system is discussed in Kazakhstan for a long time, but the process is not moving ahead. Experts say the changes should start not with the Interior Ministry, but with the political system as a whole.
In Kazakhstan, licenses of 25 universities were revoked and over 60 universities were left without the government contract. According to the ministry of education, the majority of licenses were revoked after the audit.

Over a dozen of independent civil society and human rights organisations in Kazakhstan issued a statement on being under pressure from the authorities. International organisations are concerned about the fact that it happens before the upcoming parliamentary election to be held on January 10, 2021.
