Call for applications: U.S.-Central Asia Research Network Program (U.S.-CARNet)

American Councils invites applications from scholars for the U.S.-Central Asia Research Network Program (U.S.-CARNet), which is designed to foster long-term collaboration, shared research, and joint publication among Central Asian and U.S. experts on East Asia, with a particular focus on China.


Program highlights

6 selected Central Asian scholars will:

  • Host a 2-week research visit by a U.S. scholar to their Central Asian home institutions in March 2024;
  • Travel to the U.S for a 3-week Professional Development trip in June 2024;
  • Spend one semester at a U.S. university in either fall 2024 or spring 2025, to collaborate with their U.S. counterpart on a joint article;
  • Deliver on-line and in-person lectures;
  • Present their joint articles during the program’s final conference in August 2025.
