In February 2019, the Ministry of Digital Development of Kyrgyzstan launched the Safe City project. Its purpose is to improve traffic conditions, in other words, reduce the number of road accidents, traffic mortality, and ensure safety of citizens. Residents of Southern Tajikistan affected by mudflows blocked the road, requiring the authorities to relocate them to safe places. In another village near Dushanbe, residents claim that the mudflow was caused by the activity of a local businessman. (more…)
