In Kyrgyzstan, the number of people with disabilities is increasing annually, but the number of employed people with disabilities is consistently decreasing. Currently, over 190 thousand people with disabilities live in Kyrgyzstan, and 80% of them are unemployed. According to the National Statistical Committee and the Ombudsman’s report on the observance of human and civil rights and freedoms, both indicators are growing every year. (more…)
With new mayor Dzhakhangir Artykkhodzhaev, who was appointed in December 2018, the capital of Uzbekistan did not become more comfortable for people with reduced mobility: ramps are not available everywhere, and those that are available are just for the sake of appearance.

Kyrgyzstan has ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the country has a valid state guarantee programme for persons with disabilities that guarantees them access to healthcare services.
