In Tajikistan, it is difficult for people with disabilities to realize their potential for various reasons. First and foremost, this is due to the lack of an accessible environment in most cities and districts and the inability to move around on their own. It is also difficult for them to find a job, in a country where unemployment rates are high and among physically fit people.
According to the law, the state is bound to provide comprehensive development and conditions for persons with disabilities. However, in reality this norm remains on paper and is not implemented in practice. (more…)
According to experts, in Kazakhstan, about 80% of facilities are inaccessible for people with disabilities, and 20% can be considered partially accessible.
With new mayor Dzhakhangir Artykkhodzhaev, who was appointed in December 2018, the capital of Uzbekistan did not become more comfortable for people with reduced mobility: ramps are not available everywhere, and those that are available are just for the sake of appearance.

Back in May 2020, Kyrgyzstan announced amnesty to set handicapped people and people with disabilities free on parole. However, none of them was amnestied. (more…)
