With new president Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, Kazakhstan has seen minimum progress regarding people persecuted for their political and religious beliefs. The global community tries to make their contribution to this progress. Nevertheless, “religious” trials never end, and it’s impossible to acquit persons charged with “extremism” and “terrorism”. On December 12-13, IWPR Tajikistan together with the Committee of Religion, Regulation of Traditions, Celebrations and Ceremonies under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and The Public Fund Civil Internet Policy Initiative (CIPI) Tajikistan held the Third Regional Forum on Preventing Violent Extremism in Digital Dimensions.

An unknown group carried out an attack on the Tajik border crossing checkpoint “Ishkobod” is located near the border with Uzbekistan. The incident occurred on the night of November 6, Tajikistan’s Constitution Day.

IWPR Tajikistan trained 71 imam-khatibs during the trainings in the cities of Tursunzoda, Khujand, Konibodom. The imam-khatibs from border districts, representatives of local authorities, the Committee of Religion, Regulation of Traditions, Celebrations and Ceremonies under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Centre for Islamic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan participated in the trainings.
