Two weeks ago I returned from a research internship I had conducted in Georgia, and I am still very much impressed. Until then, most of the research I had been involved in consisted of desk research, reading a lot of literature, searching for data, interviewing experts who gave their perspective on the situation based on what they themselves had read. There are many factors that contribute to the rapprochement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, Tajik political scientist Parviz Mullojanov believes. In his opinion, there are no insoluble contradictions between the two countries, political will is needed to resolve the problems that have arisen on the border. The recent border conflict between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, which occurred on April 28-29 this year, had a negative impact on the lives of ordinary citizens on both sides of the border.
