Analytical platform CABAR.asia spoke with Raffaello Pantucci, Senior Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), about Central Asian countries in the light of confrontation between Russia and the West, the indirect impact of sanctions on the region, the role of China and the potential of the EAEU and the CSTO.
“Central Asia has a high potential for solar and wind energy and also for hydropower. On January 28 2022, in a continuation of the Action Strategy, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan. “A Central Asian regional identity might have been a very feasible identity project: shared language, religion, and Soviet experience—all of this could have been mobilized to build a shared identity.
