During the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the issue of post-COVID economic recovery in Central Asia is already included in the agenda. International institutions and the expert research community’s representatives present various timelines of economic recovery to the pre-crisis level. Meanwhile, there are proposals about the transformation of the economic model itself.
Since 2016, the republic gradually introduces the practice of home insurance.
Currently, projects aimed at countering extremism are being implemented according to the same scheme. However, much is not considered in such projects. In particular, no attention is paid to the psychological component, while the perception of ideas and information received is key in the spread of radical ideologies. Kunduz Kydyrova, an analyst at M-Vector and a member of the CABAR.asia School of Analytics, discusses the need to apply a transdisciplinary approach in PVE projects and how mythmaking can help increase the effectiveness of such initiatives.
In early October, Kyrgyzstan was overtaken by mass disorders caused by the results of the parliamentary election. They continued until October 10. The situation in the country is stabilising gradually, but not in terms of Covid-19 cases. (more…)

On October 15, president of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Zheenbekov resigned. This decision was a surprise – just recently the head of state said he would leave office after the new parliamentary election.
Back in May 2020, Kyrgyzstan announced amnesty to set handicapped people and people with disabilities free on parole. However, none of them was amnestied. (more…)
