Since 1971 and till the collapse of the USSR – member of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of Tajik SSR. 1974-1977 – interpreter of the group of Soviet military experts in Iraq; 1982-1984 — interpreter of the group of Soviet experts in Libya; 1987-1990 — interpreter of the group of military advisers to USSR in Syria. 1992-1994 — Assistant for Political Affairs, US Embassy in Tajikistan. 1995-1996 — political analyst, Dushanbe office of Commonwealth and British Minerals (co-founder of Tajik-British JV Zarafshan Gold Company). 1996-2000 — Political affairs officer of the UN Mission of Observers in Tajikistan (UNMOT). 2000-2007 — Political affairs officer of the UN Tajikistan Office of Peace-building (UNTOP). August 2007 until now – freelance political analyst. Active work with media from 1995 until now.
