In Kyrgyzstan, the number of people with disabilities is increasing annually, but the number of employed people with disabilities is consistently decreasing. Currently, over 190 thousand people with disabilities live in Kyrgyzstan, and 80% of them are unemployed. The coronavirus pandemic has aggravated the risk of trafficking in persons, especially for women and children, UN said. According to the organisation, 70 per cent of victims of trafficking are women, including nearly 20 per cent of minors. 20 per cent of victims are adult men, and the rest are boys. (more…)

According to the Ministry of Health and Social Development, over 505 thousand people in Kyrgyzstan were vaccinated as of August 5, 2021. It amounts to 14.8 per cent of the total number of citizens subject to vaccination. Both doses were administered to over 135,000 people. (more…)
