IWPR activities in Central Asia
“Climate change” or “climate crisis”? How can the discussion of existing problems help in understanding their importance, urgency, and scale, or urge to immediate action? At such moments, journalism and analytics can play a significant role, since the language and way of reporting can have either positive or negative impact on the situation.
November was marked by the Week of Environmental Journalism, as well as by a series of intensive trainings on countering disinformation and fake news, which is always a priority for IWPR CA. In addition, during this month, the Kilogram of Content marathon finished, as well as a number of intensive training on blogging and podcasting. Read more about this news in November digest.
From October 26 to November 6, 2020, the Representative Office of the Institute for War & Peace Reporting conducted training as part of a documentary filmmaking workshop. In two weeks, the participants received the basic knowledge and skills necessary for filmmaking. The ideas pitching allowed the participants to develop scripts for movies that will be shot until early December.
On the 5th of November the Representative Office of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) in Central Asia, its regional analytical platform CABAR.asia organized online event related to the power of conflicts and protests in Central Asia. (more…)
CABAR.asia keeps providing relevant analysis of various problems and trends in Central Asian region. We continue to hold – already traditional – educational and expert meetings online where the experts from the region and from abroad share their experiences with the region’s media community. We present a selection of our publications and October highlights.
The publication “Discourses and Strategies for Solving Environmental Issues in Central Asia ” was developed by Muslimbek Buriev on the basis of the IWPR Representative Office in Central Asia and the regional analytical platform CABAR.asia. (more…)

The regional office of IWPR in Central Asia, within the framework of the project “Development of new media and digital journalism in Central Asia”, announces a tender to conduct a content analysis of fakes on social networks about COVID-19 in four Central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
September was remarkable for its special mood and “presence effect”. We held one-week intensive course for 30+ young experts from the region and the first round of the Kilogram of Content Marathon, which united 200+ young people from four countries who created 600+ stories and new thoughts on the social networks. “Is It Easy to Be Young? The New Faces in the Politics and Economy of Tajikistan” was the topic of the online expert meeting by IWPR Central Asia on September 30.
