The war in Ukraine has brought issues of self-identification and national identity in Central Asian states into focus. According to researchers, decolonisation issues had been discussed in the expert community previously, but it has gone beyond academic limits after the outbreak of the war. However, the degree of knowledge of the colonial past and decolonisation processes in the countries of the region is very diverse and it is often the political issue.

The uncompromising fight against organised crime groups in Kyrgyzstan declared by the head of GKNB, Kamchybek Tashiev, is taking on a huge scale. After Kamchybek Kolbaev, the most notorious leader of the underworld, was killed during the police operation to arrest him, other crime bosses, one by one, began to declare in public that they deny their previous commitment to theft and promise to obey the law from now on.
Vladimir Putin has arrived in Kyrgyzstan on an official visit. This is the first foreign visit after the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an order for the arrest of the Russian president. Central Asian countries need to clearly understand the risks of developing cooperation with Germany according to the formula “raw materials for technology”, as there is a risk of increasing dependence on energy resources, says Eldaniz Huseynov, a specialist in European and international studies of the Heartland Expert Analytical Center, commenting on the results of the last summit “Germany-Central Asia”. China’s decision to speed up construction of the D gas pipeline Turkmenistan-China running through the territory of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan marks a significant step in expanding its participation in the power sector of Central Asia.

The administration of President Sadyr Japarov has initiated amendments, which make the decision made by the Constitutional Court revisable. To do this, the president or chair of the Constitutional Court should recommend revising it. Some lawyers have called it nonsense that breaches the basic principle of independence of the judicial branch.
