CABAR.asia Online Events Digest

Coronavirus has influenced all spheres of life, society, and every individual. We had to adapt to new conditions and build up our capacities. The team of IWPR Central Asia in self-isolation continues to achieve its goals and develop analytics in the region and support the media sphere in Central Asian states. Using innovations and new technologies, we have managed to cover more audience.

We are pleased to share our work with you, as well as to encourage you to go forward in any circumstances.

This year, we held the first regional Podcast Festival, created our online community, held another offline School of Analytics, and most importantly, launched a new project – Go Viral.  There were timely analytics, training, new courses, documentaries, festivals, meetups, journalistic labs, and much more. We present the annual digest of online (and not only) CABAR.asia events of 2021.

In 2020, the coronavirus challenged journalists. Fake information and outright lies about COVID-19 were spreading as fast as the virus itself. Nevertheless, the professional media around the world managed to take the information back under their control and, together with competent specialists, provided people with verified fact-based information.

CABAR.asia Online Events Digest for November 2020

“Climate change” or “climate crisis”? How can the discussion of existing problems help in understanding their importance, urgency, and scale, or urge to immediate action? At such moments, journalism and analytics can play a significant role, since the language and way of reporting can have either positive or negative impact on the situation.

November was marked by the Week of Environmental Journalism, as well as by a series of intensive trainings on countering disinformation and fake news, which is always a priority for IWPR CA. In addition, during this month, the Kilogram of Content marathon finished, as well as a number of intensive training on blogging and podcasting. Read more about this news in November digest.

CABAR.asia Online Events Digest for June 2020

Despite external circumstances, June was intensive and productive. The IWPR Central Asia team continues to hold educational and expert meetings and to develop the media community in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
